Save it to your Desktop.

• Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install
• When the installation starts, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
• When installation has finished, make sure you have both of these options checked:
  • Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish

Malwarebytes should automatically start if you followed the previous steps exactly.

• If an update is found, the program will automatically update
• Press the OK button to continue.

On the Scanner tab:

• Make sure the “Perform Full Scan” option is selected.
  
• Then click on the Scan button.
• If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
• The scan will begin and “Scan in progress” will show at the top.

It may take some time to complete so please be patient.

• When the scan is finished, a message box will say “The scan completed successfully”
  
• Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal.
• Click the Show Results button to see a list of malware that was found.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
• The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Exit MBAM.

Notes: You may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the process. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent you from removing all infections.

MBAM may need to make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection. If you’re using other security programs that detect registry changes (like Spybot S&D), they may interfere with alerts when attempting to make fixes. Please disable these types of programs until disinfection is complete or permit them to allow the changes.

1. Microsoft Security Essentials
   At the time of this writing this is the far superior choice. No pop up ads asking you to upgrade to a paid version, excellent coverage of both viruses and malware infections. Updates automatically and often, ties into Windows Firewall for added security and control.
2. Avira Antivir Personal
   A lightweight, powerful resource for fighting most modern virus and malware infections. Quick recognition and removal of a majority of infections that can occur with modern browsers.
3. AVG Antivirus
   An okay option to fend off many viruses but it has some weaknesses. There seem to be a few exploits it is susceptible to, unless you pay for their premium version of the program. Add that to the fact the free version prompts you to consider upgrading to the paid version every so often. If I wanted pop ups I could just install a virus! There are worse options, but user beware.
4. Norton Internet Security and Other Norton Products/Suites
   We didn’t link to the Norton suite because this is a warning, not an endorsement… if you want your system to get infected and run like crap in general, install Norton! By far the most annoying and inconvenient of the current options available. It eats up lots of resources to do basic tasks and does not provide adequate protection. A clunky, unfriendly user interface is the frosting on the cake. If you are getting prompted to pay for a renewal, we beg of you please don’t!
5. McAfee Antivirus or Security Suites or the worst: Security Scan
   McAfee took the Norton blueprint and perfected it! They took all the features that half-worked and decided to strip it down and make it completely useless. The best part is the deceptively hard to use interface and strict settings that make it difficult to customize. It somehow feels like you are more likely to get infected if McAfee is installed. As a side note, with regards to McAfee Security Scan, anything that installs as a sneaky add-on with a Java update is an instant loser in our book.

If you have either of the last two, please do yourself a favor and get one of the real antiviruses listed above. Norton and McAfee have relied on name recognition from the 1990′s and early 2000′s, but over the past ten years they have separately sullied their once sterling reputations with lazy and ineffective products. You will love the improvement you see in protection and computer speeds by switching to a more modern client protection.

Who Cares?

Literally, do your clients care about your website?  It should be a useful resource for potential clients to learn about your company and answer questions to influence visitors while making their decision. Current clients should see your website as a resource of information to find answers to pressing questions.

Your content needs to have more than just contact info and a typical “About Us” profile showering visitors with useless facts about your company history. That information rarely influences a decision maker’s process. You need to learn what your customer wants and serve it up hot on a platter.

What Do People Care About?

If you want your website to be taken seriously, the first step is having a sharp appearance, with a bold and clean, well-organized layout. We’ve all seen the website that looks like either it has never been updated, or there was never a lot of thought put into the website to begin with. Maybe you even own one of those sites!

Sure an outdated website “hurts your credibility” and “brand image” – you already know that. More importantly, wrong information confuses and frustrates your customers. People care about accuracy of information and in today’s Twitter-fied world your information better be up to date! Make sure the services listed on your website are actually services you offer and if you’re showing price information, make it up-to-date or take it down.

Not only does an outdated website make visitors less likely to inquire about new business, you could confuse a lot of people! Customers will eventually ask “Why did I get charged $20 when your website says it costs $15?” or “I thought your service included a spell check!” when you stopped that service months ago.

Make sure your information is up to date, and well organized. Information that is hard to find might as well not be there! Think about the questions that customers bring to you most often and find a way to bring those answers to people on the web so that you do not have to repeat yourself on the phone and via email day after day.

A little bit of planning with the right developer can create you a design that will retain a professional appearance and make it easy for you to update content.

How Do I Know It’s Working?

You know you have provided useful information when inquiries come in via web or phone with specific questions like “I see on your website that you do XYZ service, I would like to find out more” – When users are asking specific questions based on your content, they are at least half way to choosing your service or product. Now it’s up to you to study how many questions your clients have that can be answered ahead of time so you can make their decision-making easier and more in your favor.
